Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse
After our boat cruise out into Lake Michigan, we got dressed for dinner and went out for the evening! We went to Nonna Lisa's Italian Restaurant and shared fried ravioli and a pizza. It was so good! Afterwards, we stopped by this park again where you can see Mackinac Bridge perfectly, and tour the grounds of the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse. This lighthouse is really beautiful, especially because of the park and view of the bridge. After strolling for a while, we played a game of mini golf (I hadn't done that in years!) and walked through Mackinaw Crossings again. It was the perfect day.
I picked up this skirt from ModCloth, and I absolutely love it. It feels nautical without screaming nautical and I can easily see it being remixed this autumn. It's more of a gray blue than a navy blue, which I love. It's the time of year right now where I'm feeling inspired by style again. It must be that "September" feeling. I've been adding tons of autumnal prints and colors into my wishlists, and pinning outfits like crazy. I'm excited for the new season and ready for a little bit of change!
Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse is located right on the point where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron meet. McGulpin's Point Lighthouse (which I'll feature next week) was built... but it couldn't be seen from the east side. So this lighthouse was built to "replace" it! The completion of the Mackinac Bridge through made this lighthouse irrelevant in 1957. Since the bridge has lights on it, it became a much better aid to navigation. I can't believe before the bridge was built, ferries would transport almost 9,000 cars a day across the straits of Mackinac!
I'll have my Mackinaw City posts finished up this weekend, and then we're onto September. Woo! Autumn in Michigan is quickly arriving. I have a fun post/collaboration with Free People next week and a lil' celebration. Life is good! Work is steady, I've been getting a bit better at time management lately and have had more free time even considering I've been posting everyday, and I'm finally accomplishing some big goals. I made a 27 before 28 list and I'm honestly having a lot of fun checking items off. I'll share more soon!
