The tree farm
This day was one of my favorites — our annual Christmas tree chopping day! Traditions are something I really look forward to. First thing, we head to Rockford to get breakfast at The Peppermill Grill. Once we got there though, we realized we took my car instead of Eric’s, and his car is so much easier to haul our tree home with… so while he ran home to switch cars, I did a little shopping downtown! But we also forgot our camera in my car when he made the switch, so we could only take iPhone shots for these photos… so yeah, nothing went totally right, but it was just one of those days you remember as being so fun.
I headed to Bailey & James to look around, and picked up a super cute new planter and some glitter-y holiday trees for our fireplace! I also picked up a new sweater from Lee & Birch (which I proceeded to wear immediately 😂) and discovered a new store called Glik’s and bought the coziest sweater EVER that’s been on repeat. Once Eric got back to Rockford, we grabbed coffee and chocolates at Sweetland Candies, and headed over to Hart Tree Farm to chop down our tree!
It was surprisingly warm on this day, and we could wear sweaters and a light coat no problem! We found our tree pretty quickly… I jokingly pointed to the largest one and said “that one”, even though I was kidding because Eric always wants to chop down the largest tree. And of course, that’s the one he HAD to go with, so we chopped it down and could barely carry it back to the main road to wait for the tractor. We got it baled (so surprised it went through the baler) and the guy was like, “This one is heavy!” and then I could not stop laughing as we struggled to carry it back and strap it to the top of our car. After that, we grabbed hot dogs at Corner Bar! (That’s going to have to become part of the tradition now! 😉)
