Main Street on Mackinac Island
Summer is off and rolling! To kick off summer solstice, we headed up to Mackinac Island for a whirlwind trip. Eric played a gig up there in Marquette Park, so we went up on Thursday afternoon and hopped a ferry Friday morning. Thankfully we'll be back for a longer weekend soon, but it was so great to experience the island for one evening. Any trips (no matter how long or short) in Michigan are my favorite. This state truly has my whole heart. The great lakes, the lighthouses, the small quaint towns... this is by far my favorite place in the world. And I don't even have to travel the world to figure that out. I am a Michigan girl through and through, forever and ever.
We got onto the island from the ferry, and the boys had to roll their cart of band gear over to Marquette Park. We had about an hour or so to kill, so we grabbed pizza at Island Slice Pizzeria. It was pretty packed in there, and for good reason... the pizza was delicious! We all split a deluxe pizza and it was gone in minutes. Yummmm. After that, the boys headed to the park to set up and I checked into our hotel at the historic Murray Hotel. It felt so quaint, old-fashioned and romantic. I loved it. Our room had floral wallpaper, curtains draped over the bed headboards, old paintings and portraits. It was very "Mackinac Island" feeling.
Before heading over to watch the boys play, I stopped to Doud's Market to pick up a few mini bottles of wine to enjoy in the park! I love that market; perfect for snacks to enjoy a little picnic. I found a nice grassy spot in the sun and watched them play! I love that setting. There are so many people out, enjoying the music, riding bikes past, taking in the sights. If you're ever on Mackinac Island on a Thursday night, be sure to check out their concerts in Marquette Park from 7-8pm! As for my outfit... I don't mean to wear entirely 100% Madewell, but honestly, it's all I want to wear right now. I'm obsessed with my Canadian tuxedo. I've worn this on repeat the last week. 😂
After they got done playing, we packed up, and dropped off the gear to our hotel. We headed across the street to Pink Pony for drinks, appetizers and live music! I always love visiting that place. It's so lively, and their drinks are delicious. This time, I got a moscow mule, but I typically love the traditional rum runner. I'll definitely get one of those next time we're there (which is only a week away)! After wrapping up there, the boys went out for a night on the town... and I headed back to the hotel to be the granny that I am. I crawled into bed, and noticed the hotel had left bedside cookies and I turned on the TV to "Somewhere In Time" playing. Can we say... HEAVEN?!
