The pumpkin farmstand

Well… it feels super strange to be posting on a pumpkin farmstand when our whole life has been flipped upside down, but I have to begin with some sense of normalcy, right? So if you haven’t heard or don’t follow me on Instagram, you can head there to read this post. Before the fire happened on Monday, we were having an amazing autumn — we got out to our local pumpkin patch, we took a beautiful color tour up north to Tunnel of Trees. So on one hand, I have enough blog content to last me through Halloween for the most part, except for a few collaborations I had lined up — so that’s good! But on the other hand, it also feels so weird to post ‘happy autumn posts’ when in reality we’re not living at home, dealing with restoration, major water and smoke damage, and all the emotional stress that came with waking up to the most hellish and scary ordeal ever. But, like I said… more steps toward normalcy are good for me and working on my blog is something that brings me joy (and is a great distraction), so here we are.

Autumn boots

Now that autumn is here, and temperatures are starting to cool down, I’m so excited to bust out some chunky socks…and of course, some comfortable and stylish boots for autumn! I’ve been on the hunt for a pair that I can easily transition from fall to winter, so that’s why I’m excited to team up with Earth Shoes at V & A Bootery! I hadn’t heard of the brand before, so I was excited to head into the store and pick out the perfect pair of boots that I can wear all season long… and straight into those wintry months! Keep reading to hear about my experience, and if you’re local, be sure to check out their selection at V & A Bootery!

October fields

Aaaaaaaah! We’re onto autumn! I’m so excited!! I’m a tad late (since other bloggers have been posting pictures in pumpkin patches since August 😂) but dang do I love this season and I’m HERE for it! Sorry I’ve been a little MIA though! Life has been so busy. I know I say that a lot, so I really just need to come to terms with it more, because there’s nothing about our life that I’d change. I love my career. I love my blog. I love that Eric is a musician and our weekends are full of shows and travels and friends. But that just means maybe I’m a slacker here once in a while, but that’s okay. I’m here now… and we’re kicking off the best month ever right here, right now!

Golden hour in the desert

We’re onto the last post from our time in the desert! Well… in a very desert-y neighborhood in Scottsdale, Arizona. 😉 This was the last night of our trip! We had spent the whole day grilling out at the pool with family, so when we got back to our Airbnb, Eric and I went for a walk to take advantage of some golden hour light. We mostly shot our photos from Arizona in direct light (which is so tough) but we just didn’t have a lot of down time to make golden hour work everyday, so I’m glad I at least got one set of photos from that magical time!

Scottsdale neighborhood

Even though it officially feels like autumn here in Michigan, I’m still loving on the desert for a couple more days while I wrap up my posts from our trip to Phoenix! We stayed in Scottsdale, in a super cool neighborhood. Our Airbnb was amazing and modern, and I loved being able to relax on this trip with our family! This trip was a little different than our normal trips where we go, go, go to see everything we can… and it was fun for a change to sit back, relax, and drink wine by the pool! On this day, Eric and I decided to venture out to do a little shopping, so we snapped some photos on the street of the neighborhood we stayed in before our Uber picked us up!

Hole in the Rock

We’re onto some posts from… the desert! If you didn’t know, Eric and I took a long weekend trip with my family to Arizona. It was my first time visiting the area (except for a small work trip once), so I was really excited! It was a fun weekend, with a good mix of relaxing and heading out to explore. Eric and I were able to meet up with my good friend, Chelsea of Chelsea Bird, and her husband, Scott, and they showed us around Phoenix for a little bit! I was so happy to get the chance to hang out with them, and to explore the desert! It was my first time seeing cactus (growing out of the ground 😂) and that was one of my favorite things! I loved the vibes and landscape of Arizona. So much different than Michigan — nature and weather-wise — and I loved the opportunity to experience something totally new!
