Couture for a Cure

Last Thursday, Eric and I attended a local event called Couture for a Cure at the Van Andel Institute. It was wonderful! Sponsored by Amway, there was a featured runway show put on by Leigh's and Van Andel Institute with an exclusive presentation of designer Cynthia Rose's Holiday '13 and Spring '14 collections. We got there a bit early for the cocktail reception and delicious hor d'oeuvres. Plus, we got a picture of us together (they printed them for you at the end to pick up!) and and an awesome swag bag full of Artistry products!

This was their 8th annual event, and all proceeds went to raising funds for cancer, disease research and science education. This year highlighted the Van Andel Education Institute. It was fun to see a high fashion event like this in Grand Rapids, especially for such a great cause. I was thrilled to be a part of it and to see that it was sold out!

I went for a simple cocktail dress, with a pair of black heels. I wore this dress last winter to my company holiday party and it didn't come out exactly as I had hoped. So I'm glad I was able to restyle this dress in a different climate and I liked the way this turned out better! This dress definitely deserves heels, and no jacket to show off the sweetheart neckline! There was a lot of gold in the runway show, sequins, glitter, so I felt like I fit right in!

After the event, we walked outside to valet and everyone was given roses as a "thank you" for attending. It was a fun night out and I'd definitely recommend checking out the 9th annual show next year if you're local! After the event, Eric and I headed out to catch the Tiger's baseball game and have a couple of drinks with friends!
