Boss lady pants
Hi friends! Did you have a good weekend? I loved this past weekend. On Friday night, we went to my annual work holiday party, which is always so much fun. The food is yummy, the company is wonderful, and our white elephant gift exchange is always a riot! On Saturday, we headed to Frankenmuth, but I have an entire post dedicated to that coming this week, and on Sunday, I went to a friend's house for a merry mimosa brunch. We have gotten SO much snow... I can't even believe it! It's a total winter wonderland in Michigan right now. I love it. It's just so pretty, and perfect for Christmas. We didn't have a white Christmas last year, so I really hope the snow stays until the new year at least!
A couple of weeks ago, I met up with my amazing friend, Tif of Tifani Lyn Photography, and we snapped a few photos! It's kind of fun to show a 'work outfit' even though I really do wear jeans often to work. I'd love to not wear jeans as much as I do (maybe stick to 1-2 times a week) and wear dresses/fancy pants more often. So maybe that'll be another winter goal. It's just so easy sometimes to throw on a sweater and a pair of jeans and run out the door. Our office is pretty casual attire, but dressing up is always welcomed (and complimented!) so I need to try and step it up! I bought these pants a couple of years ago, and ModCloth still has them in stock actually! They fit super well (especially since I'm a shorty) and I didn't need to have these tailored. My friend (and co-worker) Sharisa calls these my boss lady pants. Hehe. Paired with a criss-cross back sweater, and some strappy velvet flats... I loved the dressiness, yet comfiness, of this outfit.
This week is off to a good start so far! I had a productive day at work, and got fitted for a bite splint. My doctor is thinking maybe my TMJ is the root of my headache I've had for the past three weeks, so I'm excited to try this and really hope it helps. Do any of you sleep with a bite splint? I've been a teeth grinder since I was a kid, so if nothing else, at least it'll stop the wear and tear on my chompers! I'm not thrilled about sleeping with a splint, but my doctor said she can't fall asleep without hers now, so hopefully I'll get used to it. I know it's crazy, but I feel the same way about my contact lenses. As soon as I take them out for the evening, my body knows it's time to go to sleep, and I just feel good when they're out and fresh and clean. Hoping I feel that good about my bite splint eventually... we'll see.
As soon as I got home, Eric and I shoveled the driveway and my Fitbit counted it as exercise (it's seriously hard work!) so now I'm just lounging on the sofa, watching Back To The Future after eating Spicy Beef Tacos. I got a reader request to link to some of my favorite healthy recipes, so I've been trying to do so in my regular outfit posts, but I'm also going to work on a little roundup of our favorite meals we make often if you're interested! Remember how I said I've been super duper crazy on eating healthy/giving up pop/trying to exercise since we got home from Nashville? I'm currently down 13.4 pounds since our trip. I'm SO thankful I didn't just coast through the holidays (that's okay if that's what you want to do), but I just know how bad I'd be feeling about my body confidence if I just decided to wait to start over again at the new year. I'm so glad I started at the beginning of November, because I've come so far since! I know the upcoming holidays are going to be tricky, but I really do feel like I'm in an awesome routine of cooking and eating healthy, and tracking everything I eat. I feel so much better, and cannot wait to continue. 2017 is going to be an exciting year if I keep up this productivity. I'm excited!
