Ramona's Table
A few weeks ago, we headed up to Rockford for a delicious lunch at Ramona's Table! I feel like we've walked past this place a million times, but have never stopped before. I'm so glad we got a chance to check it out finally! It was delicious, the service was wonderful, and I'm still dreaming of their seasonal sangria. Yum! If you're ever in Rockford, I'd definitely recommend paying them a visit. They're located right downtown Rockford (near the dam and all sorts of shopping!) and have a great outdoor patio in the summer. I can't wait to go back when it's warmer outside!
When we arrived, we ordered an appetizer and drinks to get started. I went for their seasonal sangria (so light and refreshing!) and Eric went for a more wintry cocktail... a Michigan Maple Bourbon Blazer. It's made with Smirnoff Vodka, Jim Beam Bourbon, maple syrup, and vanilla topped with milk and house-made candied bacon. He loved it! For an appetizer, we went with the (highly recommended) bruschetta. It's their own recipe made with goat cheese, fresh basil, parmesan and balsamic glaze served on toasted French baguette. It was delicious. We're definitely fans!
For lunch, I ordered their Spring Chicken sandwich... which was chicken, basil pesto, havarti cheese, roasted red peppers, balsamic glaze, lettuce and tomatoes on homemade tomato and herb focaccia bread. They make all of their bread in house... and that was SO good! For a side, I went for their homemade French onion soup. One of my favorite soups! So yummy. Eric ordered their seasonal macaroni and cheese... which was hand-crafted with butternut squash and a side of their homemade potato salad. Every bite was delicious! We finished off with their famous carrot cake, which was maybe the best I've ever had.
It was great to learn a little bit about the restaurant too... Ramona's Table opened it's doors in 2008, and started in East Grand Rapids. They moved over to Rockford, and established themselves on being one of the best places for boutique meals, desserts and cocktails in west Michigan. They have plenty of seating downstairs, and a gorgeous upstairs that was completely renovated and contains much of the original charm of the building. Thank you, Ramona's Table, for a wonderful dining experience. We can't wait to come back!
After our lunch at Ramona's, we headed out to do a little shopping. It was fun to see downtown Rockford covered in snow. They had Christmas music playing through the streets, and it was so idyllic! I just love downtown Rockford. Such a fun place to stop, grab a bite to eat, do a little shopping, and wine tasting. In the summer, we love to ride our bikes there from Grand Rapids along the White Pine Trail, catch a concert by the river, grab a beer (wine for me). Geez, am I already dreaming of summer? I hope you guys had a great holiday weekend! I'll be back this week catching up a little bit... and then I can't believe we ring in the new year and celebrate 2018 this weekend!
