The yearly tulips
Ahh... tulip season is here! It's my favorite time of spring. I absolutely love heading to Holland to see the fields in bloom. Eric and I have figured out that going on a weeknight is so much smarter to avoid the tourists, so we ended up going last Thursday as soon as we got out of work! We went to Veldheer Tulip Gardens this year. We've been going here the last few years, because they stay open until 7pm... where Windmill Island Garden closes at 6pm. Boo! So maybe next year we'll have to try going on a weekend and fighting the crowds to view the island... but this year, we're back at Veldheer!
After taking these photos, I realized I just wore this sweater on the blog! The benefit of selling everything you own and really pairing down your closet is... you're left with only the things you truly love and wear often! The downside is... things might pop up a lot more on the blog. I don't necessarily think that's a downside though, but it's always harder to be a blogger (and link to current/relevant things) when you're wearing things you've owned for a long time. But, I did recently pick up this adorable small blush tote and these blush mules from Target. Super cute... and a steal for both items!
After exploring the fields for a while, we headed into downtown Holland to check out the street dancers and grab a bite to eat at New Holland Brewing. We don't get into downtown Holland too often, but it's one of my favorite areas in Michigan. It's so quaint, and there are so many places to check out. We split beer cheese dip and a pizza for dinner, which was delicious! I'd love to go back soon and do a little shopping at Frances Jaye though. I spotted the cutest dress in the window, which I can't find online... but so many of their other dresses are calling to me. So cute!
Well... until next year, tulips! I hope you guys had a great weekend and Mother's Day! We ended up staying in on Friday night, running the River Bank Run 5K on Saturday morning, and napping a good chunk of the day on Saturday. We met up with friends at a new brewery on Saturday night, grabbed pizza and hung out at their house playing Super Mario Kart. I forgot how fun that game is! On Sunday, we went to Eric's parent's house for brunch... and then home to take Winny for a long walk and to grab a snack down the street at Donkey. All in all, a good weekend, but I'm glad for a fresh start today. I'll be back later this week with the prettiest pink blooms!
