Music in Marquette Park
Our main reason for heading up to Mackinac Island was for this gig! My husband's band, Chain of Lakes, played up in Marquette Park on Thursday night. So we decided to make an entire trip out of it! Might as well since we were already on the island! This was the perfect first night to kick off our weekend. Everyone sets out blankets or sits on the grass, brings drinks and snacks, watches the kiddos run around and dance, and listens to the music. It was a great night, with perfect weather. I love that they are able to play this show... and a huge thank you to Mackinac Arts Council for having them play!
I wore my typical uniform lately... mom jeans and a wrap top. I actually can't believe I haven't worn this top on the blog yet! I've worn it multiple times in "real life" but haven't yet featured it here on the blog... but it's by far my favorite top. It gets a very special wooden hanger, while the rest of my clothes are on plastic hangers. Haha! I've worn the denim version of this top on the blog before, and honestly... the white one is also on my wishlist. I need to just bite the bullet and purchase it now before they go out of stock, because this is honestly my favorite top (maybe ever).
After they played in the park, we headed back to our hotel to freshen up before heading out for dinner and drinks. We stayed at the Lilac Tree Suites & Spa this time, and it was my favorite place I've ever stayed on Mackinac Island. It's just so pretty, central to everything on Main Street, the soaps/shampoos provided were delightful. It was just so lovely to stay there. We headed out to the Pink Pony, which is definitely a tradition every time we go there. I opted for their rum runner this time... so tasty for a summer evening! The boys kept the party going after that, while the girls headed back to the hotel with snacks. Sounds about right. ;)
I'll be back with plenty more from our trip on Mackinac Island! We had such a great time. We explored a new lighthouse (which is definitely in my top five favorites in Michigan), went kayaking, ate too much fudge and ice-cream, checked out some of the local shops and boutiques, rented bikes to ride around the island. It's all coming up... so stay tuned! And be sure to check out Madewell's sale right now if you're interested in this wrap top. It's an extra 30% off sale with code "bigmood". Such a good deal!
