Parking lot mood
Alright — I’m going to catch up a little bit here on the blog. The last couple of weeks have been such an important time, and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t putting out unhelpful noise, but instead that I was listening and learning. I also wanted to make sure that what I put online wasn’t performative, or doing what others were without thinking about how it affected this movement. I don’t know. I know I can use my audience/influence for good, but I’m also not an expert activist. And there’s a lot of my life that doesn’t show up here on the blog or on Instagram, including my personal journey with diversity, equity and inclusion. But I absolutely love blogging about my outfits, travels and adventures, and the positives of my everyday life and I plan to continue that because it makes me happy! And I’ll try to be more helpful with sharing important things that could help the BLM movement and continue to think about my actions and what I put out there for you guys!
So yeah, I have two posts (including this one) that are left from spring… and then I’ll move into summer content/style! Honestly I don’t have any travel/normal summer plans coming up except for a camping trip over 4th of July. I booked a trip to Mackinaw City which was cancelled, because the lighthouse cruise I wanted to go on was cancelled. So then I booked a different trip to Sault Ste. Marie for a lighthouse cruise, which was also cancelled, so I ended up just rescheduling for beginning of September. But we’ll have to see what’s happening with the pandemic then, who knows? 🤷♀️ I’m trying to plan trips that are easy to social distance, with lots of nature/outdoor things to do, lighthouses to see, etc. but even that is proving to be tricky! So yeah I’m guessing summer will be pretty low key this year considering “plans”!
Otherwise I’ve just been running a lot! It’s kind of my favorite thing to do right now… put on my running playlist, head out toward the bridges by the river. I signed up for a 10-mile race at the end of September (if it happens, of course) and I’ve been training for that, which has been so fun! I’ve been doing some longer distance runs, along with some ‘surge’ type runs where you sprint for 30-60 seconds and then slow your pace down. It’s just fun! I honestly really enjoy it. I also hit my goal on WW, so I moved into maintenance mode! I normally struggle with maintenance, so it’s been a good challenge so far. I’ve been successful for 3 weeks now, and I’m feeling in a really good routine with it. I’m going to continue running through fall, and see what happens with gyms/studios and hopefully get back into my normal classes once things start to reopen. I only run now, no strength training, so I’ll be excited to incorporate more of that. Anyway, I’ll be back again this week with another spring-y post! 🌸
