Navy Pier

Saturday, Brett and I decided to take a spontaneous trip to Chicago! We were thinking of different places in Michigan to hit up, but some shopping and the city just sounded fun. We hit some major traffic coming in from Indiana but once we got into Chicago, it wasn't so bad. The beaches were packed! It was so fun to come to Chicago in the summer. It seems like we usually visit in fall or winter. We headed to Lincoln Park area first - went to Molly's Cupcakes (yummm!) and walked around the area doing some shopping!

We went into an Urban Outfitters in Lincoln Park and I was approached by a blog reader for the very first time! (Hi Molly!) I was so excited! She was so adorable and so nice - I loved her! When she came up to me, I was like.. oh my gosh! A blog reader! And I'm not even in my own city! Hehe. She was so awesome - exactly what I picture all of my readers to be like - just the nicest, sweetest girls ever! Totally made my day.

We headed downtown to do some more shopping - perused the Forever 21, Zara (got the cutest skirt from Zara!) and played around with an iPad in the Apple Store and convinced myself that I need one now. Haha! We grabbed a bite to eat at Cosi and took the free trolley to Navy Pier (Brett has never been before!) so we just had to go! I loved the atmosphere of Navy Pier at sunset. It was gorgeous!

We paid to take a trip up on the ferris wheel - awesome views of Chicago! I loved it. It was such a picturesque night - like you're in a movie! I've been to Navy Pier before, but it was in the daylight and it wasn't half as cool. Plus, we love touristy things like the ferris wheel and what not. We saw this speedboat taking off and were like, oh my gosh.. let's ride that! But tickets were $30 each and the next ride was at 10 and we still had to drive home.. so we skipped out, but next time for sure! How fun would that be?!

Lovely day in Chicago! Definitely my favorite big city. I've been there a million times and every time I go, I feel like I have a totally new experience. There are so many different parts to Chicago that I just adore. This was no exception and we had a lot of fun there. Didn't get home until 3 am and we were totally exhausted, but so worth it! I love living so close to Chicago that we can just take a spontaneous trip whenever we want!
