My year in blogging!
I cannot believe that this time last year I started Selective Potential. So, happy one year to this blog! To give you a little backstory, I started this blog last fall after I had lost 35 pounds. It was like.. all of a sudden, I felt great with the way clothes looked on me, I wanted to see what else I could with it and I wanted to really focus on getting a personal style for myself. So, of course, me - the Google queen - I googled personal style websites and came across an article on Who What Wear featuring four fashion bloggers - and I was hooked. So I started - throwing myself into this blog and what a ride it has been so far - definitely one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! And thanks to all of you. Thanks so much for reading - and supporting me in everything. It has meant so much!
I had no idea what I was doing when I started this blog, but it just seemed to fit me - so well. I love style, I love blogging, I love graphic design and digital media - and social media. I mean, could there be anything else meant for me? Plus, I've learned so much this past year because of this blog. So much about html coding, blog design, graphic design, networking, etc. - but mostly this blog has really helped me define who I am. I can't imagine not being Selective Potential now. I feel like it's me - wrapped up into two words! I've made some amazing friends (you guys all know who you are) and you've all honestly changed my life and have made me feel so good about myself.
If I look back on this last year, when I first started to where I am now - I honestly get the biggest smile on my face. I'm not the type of person to take the little things for granted. When I saw I was featured on Who What Wear's website last November, I screamed in the car all the way to class. Last December, when I was in the running for Chictopia's style icon, I stayed up so late to wait to see if I had gotten it and bounced around the house when I received the message saying I won thinking I couldn't believe it. In February, when I went to NYC for the first time for fashion week and met so many of my favorite bloggers - I couldn't believe I was living my life at that very moment - it was so amazing! Going to Chicago for Jess LC's jewelry shoot, it was one of the best days I can remember. And right as I was about to graduate, I was named ModCloth's blogger of the moment which was one of the highlights - and receiving a dress named after me. And now just recently having won the Juicy Couture contest - and having my fall NYC trip paid for - the best birthday gift for this blog I could have ever asked for. I can't wait to see what this next year holds for SP. I wouldn't be here without you guys - honestly. Thank you. So much.
Thank you guys - so much!
