Reeds Lake

Brett and I took a little stroll this week by Reeds Lake. I love having unique places to explore and learn about now that we're living in Grand Rapids. I pretty much exhausted all of the fun spots and history that Grand Haven had to offer, so being in a fresh city is really inspiring! Reeds Lake is a little gem on the east side. Lots of benches, overlooks, gardens and fishing decks.

One of my favorite things I learned about Reeds Lake is the late Ramona Park. It was an amusement park from 1897 to 1955. A passenger steamer used to ferry passengers around the lake to different spots. The most popular ride used to be a double wooden roller-coaster called The Jack Rabbit Derby Racer. There was also a theater called the Point Paulo Resort that several Vaudeville stars called "one of their favorite spots" on their theater tours. It was located right on the shore of Reed Lake. It held plays, musicals, silent films, talkies and tons of entertainers like the Marx Brothers and Buster Keaton. Isn't that amazing? I love the history here.

I received this dress from Kyla of Blue Collar Catwalk via the Delightful Dozen. It was so easy to throw on with a matching pair of tights and comfy moccasins. I've been all about easy style lately. I've been on-the-go constantly with being busy at work and working on our new apartment, so it's nice to feel comfortable throughout the day. I'm loving this weather though and I'm really excited to get out more spring dresses and bare legs!

What are you guys up to this weekend? I'm attending a little fashion show in town with a few fellow bloggers tomorrow evening. I'm really excited. Saturday, I want to take a day-trip somewhere with Brett. We really need a complete day off. I think getting out of the house and out of town will help. Everything is in bloom right now, so I'd love to scout out some pretty spring destinations and make a day of it! Enjoy your weekend!
