Guest Post: Voodoo Doughnut
Hi Selective Potential readers! I’m Hannah from Creativity in Doses. I’m so excited to be guest blogging for Tieka while she’s enjoying her vacation. For my “Adventure in Style,” my boyfriend, Eric, and I headed to Voodoo Doughnuts in downtown Portland, Oregon. Voodoo is known for its unusual doughnuts and perfectly portrays Portland’s eccentricity.
This is one of our favorite places to go after spending a morning bouldering at the nearby climbing gym. However, instead of climbing shoes and Spandex, I wore a Voodoo Doughnuts inspired outfit in honor of Tieka and her love of matching outfits to locations. I made a vintage inspired dress from some pretty white eyelet and fun fabric printed with pink doughnuts to match Voodoo’s pink building in NE Portland. I wanted to let my dress standout so I kept my accessories simple – my favorite wedges and a sparkly pink belt.
Voodoo is popular with native Portlanders and tourists alike. In all the times Eric and I have been there, I’ve never seen it without a line out going out the door. But it’s definitely worth the wait! From doughnuts covered in Fruit Loops or Butterfinger dust to their signature voodoo doll shaped doughnut, they have the something for everyone. My favorites are the maple bacon bar, the peach fritter, and the Oreo and peanut butter covered doughnut. Eric prefers his doughnuts covered in M&M’s.
My favorite thing about Voodoo Doughnuts might just be that their only location outside of Portland is in Eugene, where I go to college. Since I go to school in Eugene and Eric stays in Portland, we are in a long distance relationship for most of the year, but no matter whether Eric is visiting me at school or I’m home for the summer, we can always make a special trip to Voodoo for our favorite doughnuts. Thank you so much for having me! Make sure to check out my blog, Creativity in Doses, for more.
