Lower Tahquamenon Falls

We're back from the most magical weekend in the upper peninsula visiting the Tahquamenon Falls area! The fall colors were in full force, the weather was cooler, the rain held off for the most part, and we got to explore both the upper and lower falls, see two different lighthouses, drive down winding back roads, and eat lots of burgers and craft beer (wine for me, of course). I'd relive this weekend over, and over again. This weekend just contained everything that makes my heart so happy... Eric, lighthouses, October, fall foliage. I was such a happy lady all weekend long, and didn't want to return home! But here we are, back to the city, and I'll just have to relive the experience through my photos this next week!

Beaver Island Travel Guide

As promised, here is my full "little" travel guide to Beaver Island! We're definitely not pros of the island, but just thought I'd share where we stayed, what we ate, and what we did on the island. To be honest, this wasn't my favorite Michigan excursion we've been on. There wasn't a whole lot to do on the island... which is great if you're looking to relax and take it easy! Typically we like to have fun things to do and see when we travel (especially around Michigan), so thankfully the lighthouses took up a bit of our time. But if we didn't have the lighthouses to see, I'm not sure what else we would have done other than ride bikes, or visit the little beach, or eat/drink. But! We still enjoyed our weekend, and here are the highlights of our trip!

Beaver Island Head Light

Onto day two of our trip to Beaver Island! The second day, we knew we'd be making a huge trip to the Beaver Island Head Lighthouse on the south end of the island. Since we didn't bring our car on the ferry, we'd be making the trek by bicycle! It was a 30-mile round trip ride. Oof! But we made it, and honestly, it was one of my favorite experiences of the entire trip. Challenging, but so fun. One of my very favorite things about seeing all of the lighthouses in Michigan is the adventure to get to them. We've walked miles, have traveled by boat, biked several miles, and will someday have to travel by airplane. It's such a fun and exciting adventure every single time.

Beaver Island Harbor Light

Hi friends! We're back from our long weekend on Beaver Island, and I'm so excited to (finally) have a few posts ready to publish! Summer has been SO busy... and along with me not feeling great (headaches, still!), I just haven't had the motivation to work an eight-hour day at my career, and then come home, sit on the computer, edit photos and blog all night. It's been a balance I haven't been able to achieve yet, but I'm working on it! So let's kick off with our first day on Beaver Island! I've been looking forward to this trip for a while, and I was so excited to see both of the lighthouses on the island. First up, we saw the Beaver Island Harbor Light!

Snaps in Ludington

Hi friends! I'm alive! I can't believe it's almost been a month since I posted here last. Time is seriously flying. I wish I knew of a way to slow it down, but that's just the way it goes sometimes, especially in the summer. On one hand, it's been nice to sort of take a break, but on the other hand, I'm not really sure what I've done with my time other than be "busy", so it hasn't felt like a break. At all. We've had a lot of things happening - weddings, shows, days off, trips, but I haven't really been productive. I think right now I'm just trying to keep my head above water, and pump the brakes as much as I can, but it's SO hard. I'm going to try and slow down a bit though, and be more intentional, especially with posting here! Summer is one of my favorite times to blog, we have daylight until 9:30pm, and so many fun plans to blog about. I think I just need to let go of the idea of "perfection" for each post, and instead just carry around our camera more and snap photos without that pressure. Perfect or not. So that's what we have here today... a totally imperfect post with all iPhone snaps, but hey, I'm here!

Graduate Ann Arbor

Let's jump back a couple of weeks, shall we? It's been a whirlwind start to summer ever since Memorial Day weekend, that's for sure! If you didn't catch it on Instagram, Eric and I headed out to Ann Arbor over the long weekend to stay at Graduate Ann Arbor. The amazing folks there invited us to experience the hotel, grab a bite to eat at the Allen Rumsey Supper Club, and enjoy checking out the quaint downtown of Ann Arbor. We've been to Ann Arbor a couple of times before, but I've never stayed a full weekend, so it was great to have a bit more time to explore, walk around, check out some of the bars and restaurants, and do a little bit of shopping!
