Brockway Mountain Drive

On our first day in Copper Harbor, we checked into our B&B at Dapple Gray, met up with Eric's parents, and headed to dinner at the Harbor Haus Restaurant! Luckily we got in without a reservation (as it's only one of the few restaurants in Copper Harbor). We got a few drinks, and ordered our meals which were super yummy! Definitely on the higher end, but worth it if you're visiting the area. Plus, the service was great and the views of Lake Superior weren't bad either!

After dinner, we drove up Brockway Mountain Drive. It's a scenic road, just west of Copper Harbor. The drive runs along the edge of Brockway Mountain, and climbs to 1,328 feet above sea level and 726 feet above the surface of Lake Superior! There are viewpoints along the way, and on a clear day, you can see Isle Royale (50 miles out) from the top of the mountain. We reached the top, and it was so insanely windy, but the atmosphere was amazing! I loved the sun peaking out from the clouds. Just excuse my very windblown hair, I couldn't stop laughing at how windy it was! It felt like you could fly right off the mountain!

From one of the scenic viewpoints, you could see the Copper Harbor Lighthouse, which we toured a few days later, and the entire little town of Copper Harbor. It was so pretty up there though; I never wanted to leave! Plus, it felt so good being in cooler temperatures compared to some of the hot hot heat we've had in Grand Rapids lately. It was a perfect drive! I can only imagine how beautiful this scenic view would be in autumn too. Future trip, perhaps? We were only able to see 8 of the 11 lighthouses up there this time, so I'm bound to go back at some point anyway!
