Muskegon South Pierhead Lighthouse
Phew, long time, no see! I didn’t mean to take a couple of weeks off there, but we’ve just been so busy lately with traveling and wrapping up summer. Plus, it’s good to take a break every now and then! I’ve been blogging for 9 years now (my blogiversary was Labor Day) and it’s so hard to constantly be “on” all the time with the blog and IG. So those two weeks were needed, and now I’m feeling inspired to get back into it! I have one final summer post (with a lighthouse, of course) before I move into the desert from our trip to Phoenix! And after that… autumn content begins! I’m super excited. I love fall and can’t wait for all things apple, pumpkin + fall foliage related. But for my final post of summer… here we go!
This outfit is so accurate of my summer style this year! I’ve been totally obsessed with Madewell’s wrap tops (I have four colors, and now a sweater version) and mom jeans, along with my woven round tote + boardwalk sandals. I absolutely love keeping a simpler wardrobe. I’ve gotten rid of about 75% of my clothes since last winter, and I feel like I have no problem coming up with different outfits all the time. It’s actually way easier now because I don’t have a million options and I don’t need to sort through a bunch of stuff I’m not wearing in my closet. Plus, everything I wear… I absolutely love. I’m seriously all about that Curated Closet.
Eric and I paid a trip to the Muskegon South Pierhead Lighthouse before he had a gig on the beach. I’ve seen this lighthouse a million times, because I grew up in Muskegon, but I’ve never actually climbed it before! So I was super excited to do that. It’s actually really fun doing something new in your hometown you spent 20 years in, to see a totally different view you’ve never seen. I loved it! There are two lighthouses in Muskegon, the other one you can see in the view from this one. I think this one just opened a few years ago for public viewing… but it’s definitely worth the visit if you’re a lighthouse nerd like I am!
Well that’s it for summer! (Technically it felt like the hottest summer of all in Phoenix, so I’m not totally done with the season yet.) But I’m done for summer in Michigan, at least. We had suuuuch a great summer this year. Maybe one of the best ever. We had so many fun trips and adventures — Springfield, Ohio, three trips to Traverse City, two trips to Mackinac Island, our kayak adventure to Round Island Lighthouse, our stay at Big Sable Lighthouse, so many fun plans and tubing trips with friends. It was just a really great summer. But toward the end, I just felt so tired + ready for fall + I’ve gained 8 pounds + really miss my normal FLEX routine, so I’m definitely ready for autumn and for life to slow down a little bit. Hopefully soon! But I’ll be back all next week with posts from the desert and then… onto autumn! xo
