Michigan’s Little Bavaria
Hiii there! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! We visited one of my favorite towns last weekend — Frankenmuth, Michigan! It’s such a quaint Christmas town; we go every year. It’s one of my top five favorite days of the year, haha. We chose the perfect day to go too. I mean, it’s always nice when it’s snowy for those festive vibes, but I cannot complain about the mid-50s and sunshine we had! It was so nice for walking around, driving to this side of the state and back. I loved this day — as always! We hit up our usual favorite spots, but threw a new wine bar in the mix! Keep reading for all the places we visited during our day in Michigan’s Little Bavaria!
So this year… we made a quick stop to Birch Run Outlets first, which is about 10 minutes from downtown Frankenmuth. I wanted to stop to Old Navy to pick up this Sherpa coat… because it just fit the dream I had in my head for these photos. 🤣 It worked out! And I’ve worn this coat so many times since… so definitely a good investment! So after the outlets, we did our usual stops in the same order we always do. I love traditions! First stop is… Bronner's CHRISTmas Wonderland; aka the world’s largest Christmas store. It’s always fun to walk around, look at the little villages, all of the decorations, trees, and lights. But our mission there is always to buy an ornament of something that meant a lot to us that year.
After Bronner’s, we headed over to Frankenmuth Brewery. We always wait in their bar line to grab a beer and wine here. My favorite years are when we can find a spot at the bar, but it was pretty packed. So we found out that upstairs has an entire seating section for drinking only — no food, which was perfect! So we headed upstairs, enjoyed the sunshine and our drinks. After the brewery, we headed closer to the main part of town. We added a new spot to the mix this year — Prost! Wine Bar & Charcuterie. I loved this place; it’ll definitely be a staple now in our day. We snagged a spot at the bar, and I had the most delicious wine flight ever. Plus the vibes in there were so fun! After that, we walked across the street over to Frankenmuth Cheese Haus to sample all the cheeses and to stock up on our favorites to bring home.
Our last and final stop is my favorite place… Bavarian Inn. We immediately head inside to jump in line to wait for their famous fried chicken dinner. Usually the line isn’t too bad, I think we waited maybe 45 minutes or so this year? But the nice thing is, they have a little bar window, so we can grab beer and wine and drink while waiting in line listening to Christmas music! Plus, once you’re seated, the vibes are so fun, the drinks are amazing, there are three courses of deliciousness, and it’s some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. I’m just so happy when we’re there! After dinner, we head downstairs to stock up on their wine and chicken seasoning and make the trek back home to Grand Rapids. Best day ever!
