Menominee North Pier Lighthouse

During my trip to Escanaba, I headed down to spend a day (ish) in Menominee! To be honest, there’s not much to do in this town (that I figured out) but there’s a lighthouse there… so of course, off I went! Menominee is right on the Michigan/Wisconsin border, so it was kind of fun to cross over into Wisconsin for a second just to say I did (haha), to do a little wine tasting at Yooper Winery, to eat some Wisconsin cheese curds at Ogden Club, to walk around their strange, quiet little downtown, to grab a malt from the local ice-cream shop, and to walk down the pier to the Menominee North Pier Lighthouse. This one was built in 1877, and has been shifted and changed many times! There are several markers on the pathway that say where the lighthouse used to sit… it’s been moved/extended three times!

This day was kind of weirdly muggy (my bangs got so curly 😂) but it was still “chilly” enough to be able to wear jeans and my new black denim jacket from Madewell. Like I mentioned before, I’ve sort of been bad at packing for trips lately and this outfit wasn’t planned… but I actually like how the lighter denim and black denim went together! I just switched my closet over to fall, so I put away all my sandals, and was a little sad to see these guys go into storage! I’m sure I could technically wear them for another month or so, but I’m making the commitment to try and move onto autumn style… especially since it’s technically the first day of autumn today! I’ll still be in summer-mode here for a few minutes though trying to wrap up summer content, so hang tight with me! I’m hustlin’ trying to get it all up! Haha.

Have you ever been to this area? Do you have any fun recommendations of things to do? I went on a Sunday (before Labor Day) so the town was definitely a little quiet. I likely wouldn’t go back, unless I had a good excuse. Escanaba was much more lively, more things to do, places to eat and drink, but it was fun to walk around the town a little bit. I honestly love every Michigan town — at least being able to explore them all. I’d love to explore every town someday, but for right now, I’m hitting all the ones that have lighthouses and I’ll go from there. I keep thinking I should probably venture out more soon (haha) but I just love Michigan. Nothing wrong with that, I guess! 🤣 I’ll be back with two more posts from my trip to Escanaba (including a fuller recap)! xo
