Mt. Marquette
Happy November! Okay, I’m still trying to get caught up from my first month in Marquette… hahaha, so here we go. I’m going to wrap it up this WEEK, for sure. I have two more posts from “round one” and then I have a few posts from when I was back in Grand Rapids doing all the autumn things (apple orchards and pumpkin patches) and then… I move onto my next round of Marquette posts since I decided to move back up here!! Hahahaha. I LOVE IT HERE. Anyway, let’s go back quickly, eh? So during my last week in MQT, I knew I had to drive up to Mt. Marquette to see all the peak fall color. Google Maps was sending me on a goose chase per normal, and was trying to send me up a one-way, but if you take 41 there vs. 553, you’ll be on the right track. So yeah, this was definitely my most nerve-wracking drive. It’s just a VERY steep grade with LOTS of bumps. I wasn’t sure my little Versa hatchback was going to make it! But I made it!!! And it was so worth it for this VIEW. 🍂
So yeah, I’ve just been really lucky with weather during my time in Marquette. This night was gorgeous, the sunset was insane, the blues of Lake Superior, pink tones of the sky, with the warm tones of all the fall color, it was just magical. There are two spots to sort of stop and look out… but I prefer the second one, where there is more parking, a little overlook area, a guard rail. You can easily step beyond the guard rail to get a few photos or explore the area, but yeah. It’s gorgeous. DEFINITELY worth a trip up here, especially if you’re here in autumn because dannggggngngngngn. It’s pretty. So yeah! Simple outfit. I got this bobble sweater from Madewell last year, which is one of my favorite autumn pieces. They don’t have this one anymore, but they have a similar ruby one that would be really cute over the holidays!
So yeah, I’ll chat a lot more about why I came back up and what not soon. But be sure to follow along over on Instagram. I post on my stories daily!!! I’m way more caught up there than I am here. Blogging has sort of taken a back seat lately, but I’m going to work to get caught up. If you guys want to see anything here or have any questions, just shoot me a note! Happy to chat anytime — tieka@selectivepotential.com. I hope you’re all hanging in there with election anxiety and the status of the world right now. I’m hanging tight by… just deciding to live my life to be happy, not focusing so much on the future or big decisions, just focusing on the present day, being outside as much as possible, not worrying about what people think, taking time to breathe, relax, journal, self-soothe (this list is my favorite) and being selective with how I spend my energy and loving on the people that choose me.
