Hi hi! It’s been a minute! I feel I’ve been saying that a lot lately. Oof, this is definitely the longest “blog break” I’ve taken… maybe since I started Selective Potential. I’m not entirely sure what happened… other than I sunk into a dark black hole I couldn’t seem to pull myself out of this winter. Post-COVID blues, winter blues, basement blues, all of the above blues. But yeah, trying to feel like a normal stable human again. Thankfully this spring weather is helping! I was downstate last week and it hit 65º and it was life-changing, and now we’re starting to see more “spring-like” temperatures here in the UP. This past weekend, I was like… 55º? Yes. Even if windy and a little drizzly. I will put on a spring outfit and pull out my DSLR for the first time in months. I headed to a go-to spot I visit for golden hour often — Clark Lambros. It’s a wonderful beach/park right on Lake Superior and perfect for freighter watching. But I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things… bare with me here!
So I saw this outfit on Pinterest… and then an almost exact replica of it on the Madewell website and I knew I had to recreate it immediately. I just picked up these High-Rise Perfect Vintage Jean in Tile White from Madewell. I love them. I own this style… in so many colors. Black, a mid-blue wash, another mid-blue wash, a lighter blue, and now white. And I want to buy them in more colors. They just fit so perfect and the petite version is a life-saver, especially if you’re 5’3 or under like me. Madewell jeans cannot be beat. But yeah, the other pieces are quite old… I kind of love that about my closet right now. So many of my classic Madewell pieces date back to like 2017 and that’s 5 years ago! Quality + classic style… where it’s at.
What else is new? I’ve been looking for houses up here in Marquette! It’s been… an emotional ride, honestly. Being a first-time home buyer, being single, not knowing anything about repairs or improvements or what I’m getting myself into quite honestly. It’s been a little scary, and making me wonder if I’m even ready. I don’t know. I don’t know! But otherwise I have lots of fun travel plans this summer… lighthouse cruises out of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, trips downstate to see friends and tulip fields (can’t miss those!), getting back into running now that it’s better weather outside, and really embedding myself into my friend group in Marquette has sort of saved me lately too. Things are good! Just ready for a seasonal shift, I think. Ok, I’ll be back! Thanks for reading, as always! xo
