Spring came early
Last weekend, I hopped on a plane with Eric and we flew to the tropics! It was so humid and warm. We checked out all of the blossoming flowers, misty steambeds and waterfalls. We took a stroll on the bridges and enjoyed a wonderful day outdoors. Then, we flew back home. Haha! Ugh, I wish. Thankfully for us though, his parents bought me a year membership to Frederick Meijer Gardens for Christmas! I'm so excited. They have the largest tropical conservatory in Michigan, over five stories high! It was seriously like walking into summer, when it's freezing outside and there is snow on the ground. I loved our afternoon here. Felt like a mini adventure!
The tropical conservatory features plants from five continents of the world. It was amazing to see and smell flowers in the dead of winter! I'm thrilled about this membership. They have so many interesting exhibits and events. I honestly think we plan on going every weekend for a while this winter. Plus, in March and April, they import thousands of butterflies into this conservatory and let them fly free. It's so much fun, especially when one of them lands on you! I'm excited to take more photos here. Grand Rapids is lucky to have it.
I'm also really happy to be styling up this beautiful dress from ModCloth. It's from their Make the Cut: Winter Garden Gala Collection. The dresses were designed by ModCloth and Teen Vogue community members, and picked for production by ModCloth's Facebook community. I absolutely love how elegant and feminine this dress is. I'll definitely be wearing this many more times this spring! If you want to get involved in the next contest and/or receive updates with what's happening in ModCloth's design community, you can check out the Designer District page and sign up for notifications.
So yeah, not much else is new! I'm just working hard at my goals and waiting for the real spring to arrive. There is nothing like the smell of spring, the sight of flowers, and the feel of warmth outside. It's honestly one of the best things in the world. It's weird, but it's a big reason why I really do love seasons. You don't take any of them for granted and when they start to change, you're amazed at the beauty. Plus winter gives you a great excuse to stay inside and get done what you put off all summer. I just love seasons. I'm a broken record, I know.
