Mission Point Lighthouse

After we did a little shopping in Traverse City, we decided to check out Old Mission peninsula for our afternoon! I knew I wanted to hit up the lighthouse first, and then make our way back and visit as many wineries as we could. We’ve been to this lighthouse before in the summer, but to be honest, I much preferred it in autumn. It was so pretty, and the water was so blue! Plus, we actually got the chance to walk up to the tower this time (so thankful they were still open this late in the season!) and we were the only ones in the lighthouse. I loved it!

Shopping in Traverse City

During our trip to Traverse City, we tried to squeeze as much in as we could! We wanted to make sure we hit up a bunch of unique stores for a fun guest post on the Traverse City blog on holiday shopping, so be sure to head there and check that out! I chatted a little bit about each of my favorite places, so if you're looking to do a little shopping in that area, I've got you covered. We explored a bunch of places I've never visited before, and tried some new restaurants to us too. It was a perfect day spent up north. I just love Traverse City!

High Rollaway

A couple of weekends ago, Eric and I headed up to Traverse City for a wonderful weekend full of all my favorite things... scenic sights, lighthouses, wine tasting, delicious food, and a comfy hotel room watching movies in bed. It was perfect. On Friday, I got out of work, and we headed straight up north. I recently heard about this place called the High Rollaway, and knew we had to check it out, so that was first on our list. It was so pretty. I would definitely recommend if you're in the area!

Crisp Point Lighthouse

Our last adventure during our trip to Tahquamenon Falls was to Crisp Point Lighthouse! I remember learning about this lighthouse years ago, and read about how it had been abandoned for years, and they finally opened up a road to see it. Now it's beautifully maintained, with a gift shop, restrooms, and there's a seasonal lighthouse keeper up there to keep it open for you! This is another lighthouse where you can let yourself in, climb up the tower yourself, and you can even open the door to the top of the tower and walk out on the balcony. I just love it. It provides such a beautiful view of Lake Superior, and the fall foliage made it even better!

Whitefish Point

During our trip to Tahquamenon Falls, lighthouses were (of course) on the itinerary! In the morning, after breakfast at our hotel, we headed up to Whitefish Point to explore the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum and the Whitefish Point Lighthouse! We got our tickets to the museum and for the tower climb, and quickly headed to meet up with the rest of the group. The climb up the tower was pretty easy and it was an amazing view of Lake Superior. We caught some glimpses of Canada up there too! It was a perfect day full of blue skies and blue water. We were so blessed with great weather on this day!

Upper Tahquamenon Falls

Onto our adventure to the Upper Tahquamenon Falls! Since it started raining the day before, we decided to postpone and go back the next day. I'm glad we did, but holy moly, it was busy! We had to wait in line for quite some time to get into the park, find a parking spot, and walk to view the falls. People everywhere! It seemed everyone else had the same idea as us to head to the falls for autumn colors. It was worth it though... so pretty up there! We first checked out the upper brink of the falls, and kept stopping at every turnout in the path, conquering lots of stairs to see every angle of the falls. It smelled so amazing up there. I could just breathe in that fresh cedar scent everyday!
