Muskegon South Pierhead Lighthouse

Phew, long time, no see! I didn’t mean to take a couple of weeks off there, but we’ve just been so busy lately with traveling and wrapping up summer. Plus, it’s good to take a break every now and then! I’ve been blogging for 9 years now (my blogiversary was Labor Day) and it’s so hard to constantly be “on” all the time with the blog and IG. So those two weeks were needed, and now I’m feeling inspired to get back into it! I have one final summer post (with a lighthouse, of course) before I move into the desert from our trip to Phoenix! And after that… autumn content begins! I’m super excited. I love fall and can’t wait for all things apple, pumpkin + fall foliage related. But for my final post of summer… here we go!

Grand Ravines

Happy Monday! I'm glad for a new week. This weekend's weather was kind of crummy and put me into a sad, lazy funk. And right now it's only 84º but holy moly, it's a freaking jungle out there. Like, no point at all in attempting to blow-dry and curl your hair with the humidity. The second you step outside, it just goes POOF. So I'm going to take the week/weekend off likely from taking photos, wrap up the photos/content I do have, enjoy the long holiday weekend (and last unofficial weekend of summer) and then we're off to Phoenix for a long weekend! Once we're back from that trip, it'll definitely start to feel like autumn here in Michigan and I'm ready. Ready for a change, for a new season.

Among the wildflowers

Well... summer feels like it's wrapping up! I know we have a good month left, but there's definitely a transitional shift going on right now. The mornings and evenings are getting cooler, the days are getting shorter. It's completely dark by 9pm now, where just a few weeks ago, it felt like it was light out until 10pm almost! I absolutely love summer, and this summer was one of the best, but I can't help but get excited for autumn. It's my favorite season! But for right now, I'm enjoying my favorite summer month and trying to make the most of every moment while it's here.

Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness

After stripping my wardrobe of everything red last year, I saw this top on Madewell and instantly loved it, so I went for it! A while back now, I went through The Curated Closet (which I loved) and dreamt of my closet and color palette, and red wasn't really part of it at the time. I've always worn red (and have liked red!) but typically overall I gravitate toward earthy colors and neutrals and less toward primary colors. But I definitely need to make an exception for red... because I really love this color, how I feel in it, and how it looks (especially in my adventures around Michigan). It's just a color that feels right, and sometimes you just have to go with what feels right!

Big Sable Point Lighthouse

Last weekend, Eric and I had the amazing opportunity to be lighthouse keepers for a weekend at Big Sable Point Lighthouse! Well... not exactly lighthouse keepers, but we were able to stay for the weekend in the lighthouse! This opportunity isn't available to the public, so I jumped at this chance! Long story short, I hosted a social media workshop for their board last winter... and in exchange they offered to give us a free stay at Big Sable. This lighthouse has so much meaning to us, so of course, I was thrilled. It was the first lighthouse Eric ever took me to (as a surprise), and we also have our names engraved on a boardwalk here. Plus, it's one of my favorite lighthouses in Michigan. I absolutely love that you have to walk two miles to get there. It's just such an adventure, and this weekend was exactly that.
