The tree farm

This day was one of my favorites — our annual Christmas tree chopping day! Traditions are something I really look forward to. First thing, we head to Rockford to get breakfast at The Peppermill Grill. Once we got there though, we realized we took my car instead of Eric’s, and his car is so much easier to haul our tree home with… so while he ran home to switch cars, I did a little shopping downtown! But we also forgot our camera in my car when he made the switch, so we could only take iPhone shots for these photos… so yeah, nothing went totally right, but it was just one of those days you remember as being so fun.

Hoplot

When we headed up north to Suttons Bay area, we did a little bit of wine tasting in the afternoon, grabbed brunch, and stopped to Hoplot! I loved hanging out here for a bit. We had the best autumnal vibes. Plus, they have the outdoor igloos where you can sit and hang outside with little space heaters… and be warm! So we grabbed our drinks inside (strawberry mead for me, yum) and reserved an igloo for a bit! We just hung out, snapped a few photos, warmed up for a bit, before heading back on the road to visit more wineries. Such a fun stop during our weekend up north!

City rustic

Sponsored by Zappos

Over the holiday weekend, we headed to the Windy City to take in a concert, some deep-dish pizza, and coffee at the cutest café! I wanted to fit the late autumn vibes, so I packed my plaid coat… with the coolest new pair of boots I own by BED|STU from Zappos! They’re a little bit rustic, a little bit edgy, and they just look “cool”. I wore these boots for a full night of walking around Chicago, standing for a few hours at a concert, and they were super comfortable. Plus, I love the darker “rustic teak” look! I don’t have a single pair of boots that look like these, but they already go with so much in my closet.

Fall forest

I know I keep saying we’re dwindling down on autumn content… but I may have fibbed a little bit. Haha! I have a couple more posts (maybe 3?!) that feel very autumn coming up, before I move onto snowy holiday posts. But Michigan’s weather has sort of been all over the map! Peak autumn color, almost right to a winter wonderland, back to a grayish autumn, and now we’re back to snow again! But Eric and I snapped these photos when it was still peak autumn, which was so pretty this year! I just love this season. So a few more posts… hope you don’t mind, which I mean, how could you? Look at those colors!

Leelanau Wine Cellars

One of my favorite places to head in Michigan is up to Traverse City and the Leelanau Peninsula. Last summer, I took a trip with my girlfriends and we booked a wine tour that took us all around – stopping to Leelanau Cellars, which was my first time ever visiting! Instantly… it was my favorite winery. I’m a sweet wine drinker – all the way – bring on the sweet red and Moscato! And while I love wine tasting in Traverse City, there aren’t a ton of wineries that offer a breadth of sweet options. It was fate we stopped to Leelanau Cellars! I’m forever their biggest fan now, and I had the wonderful chance to stay there a few weekends ago with a group of our closest friends. It was one of the best weekends!

Fisher Nature Preserve

Popping in on this short week with the most simple outfit ever… one I’m caught most in lately! A favorite pair of denim, a cozy sweater, and a comfortable pair of ankle boots. I wore this for our road trip home in the car from up north. Road trips are just the BEST in autumn… the scenery is so pretty the entire way! This is the last from our trip to the Tunnel of Trees. I have a couple more autumnal posts to wrap up November, and then we’re moving into the holidays! It’s already snowed here twice, melted both times, and now we’re left with this gray transitional weather. I’m great with that until Thanksgiving is over, and then I want it to snow, snow, snow all the way to Christmas!
