Lower Harbor Ore Dock

One of the most iconic scenes in Marquette is of course… the Lower Harbor Ore Dock. It’s such a pretty scene, in every season. I never ever tire of it. Walking down the road seeing it come into view, as you’re driving into Marquette, viewing it from the top of Sugarloaf Mountain, from the Marquette Harbor Lighthouse, I mean, this ore dock is just a staple thing to see and photograph while you’re in town. I haven’t done a full blog post on it before though… so here we are! I remember when I came to MQT for the first time 10 years ago, I had a photo of me standing in front of it like… what’s this? 😂 But in short terms, an ore dock is a large structure used for loading ore (typically from railway cars or ore jennies) onto ships. Neat, right? There’s still a functioning one in Marquette too just down the shoreline. I absolutely love watching freighters there!

I recently got a couple of new pairs of jeans from Madewell — these included! They’re the 9" Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans in Clarksville Wash. I love them… really good fit, pairs perfectly with ankle boots (and taller boots of course). I always order Madewell jeans in the petite size, and I ordered my normal size, and they’re perfect. I just got some vintage jeans from them in my normal size and had to return/size down, so yeah, these are TTS! I’m also trying to branch out of my Madewell… obsession… a little, haha. I picked up a few cute oversized plaid flannels from Old Navy, and I just got a sweater from Target too. I know I got a request on IG to feature more budget-friendly items, so I’ll see if I can step out a little. But just to say out loud, I buy most of my Madewell stuff on sale! They’re always having sales, and Nordstrom Rack, you can get things marked down even further!

Well… this is the first post from my round II in Marquette! So I’ll give a little bit of background, since you’re all probably wondering what I’m doing back UP here! But the only reasoning is… I love it here. I feel at home here, my soul feels at home here. When I was up here during my first month, I remember thinking week two, I’m never going to be able to leave. So by week three, I had a talk with the owners of the house I’m staying at, they were interested in having me stay through 2020, I was interested in having me stay through 2020, lol. I just couldn’t leave without knowing I had a definite plan to come back. I just… I love it here. I don’t know what the future holds, my career is remote right now, so my only logic is that I want to be up here as long as I can while I can in this very strange time of life. I’m just living for the right now and taking it one day at a time.
