Support Local Gift Guides with Pure Michigan
I teamed up with Pure Michigan to share some of my favorite Michigan businesses and how you can shop local this season! I’ve curated some gift guides and I hope one of them calls out to you or someone you’re shopping for! Granted I hope you have most of your holiday shopping done by now… but these gifts are great ideas for all year long for someone else (or for yourself!) Be sure to pop over to their blog to read how you can shop local for the coffee lover in your life, the adventurer, gifts for her (or anyone who loves to pamper themselves!) or the homebody. Or maybe they’re all of the above… I definitely am!
I’m so excited I was able to include so many of my favorite local shops from Marquette to Grand Rapids and a few in-between! Shopping local has become more important to me than ever, especially during this pandemic. I’ve gotten to know many small business owners (especially while being in Marquette) and I know how important your business is to them. I’ve seen it first-hand. A few of my favorite local Marquette businesses are included in the gift guide on Pure Michigan’s blog but just wanted to call them out here as well. Revival is one of my favorite boutiques in Michigan, and definitely the UP. It’s beautifully curated with the most stylish items and I have absolutely loved chatting with Holly — the owner. If you’re in MQT, be sure to pop in there… or their sister-store, Revisions! So cute! I love their little plant area in the back too.
A few other Marquette stores I love and feature in the guides… Snowbound Books. It’s a quaint bookstore in downtown Marquette. I was able to order online and pick up in their entryway, and get a little peek into the inside, and it’s adorable. I can’t wait to go back and visit when things start to open back up safely. I picked up this Great Lakes Island Escapes book that I’m excited to dive into! I also was excited to feature Upper Peninsula Supply Co. — ran by a really good friend of mine, Bugsy Sailor. Purveyors of the Upper Peninsula, their goods consist of original apparel, prints and gifts. I have bought so many goodies from this store… but my three favorite things so far have been this Great Lakes mug, my wool blanket, and my UP hoodie that I wear on repeat.
I also had to feature my favorite winery in Michigan — Leelanau Cellars. I’m the biggest fan of theirs… especially since visiting their tasting room a couple of summers ago in Traverse City with my girlfriends. I love their wines… they have such great blends for every season. This Festivus one is a great one for winter! Along with a few of my favorite breweries across Michigan… which definitely include Ore Dock Brewing in Marquette, Upper Hand Brewery in Escanaba and I’m excited to try Black Calder Brewing, which is Michigan’s first Black Owned brewery based in southwest Michigan. Be sure to pop over to Pure Michigan’s blog for more details on the gift guides… and to shop some of these items! Happy holidays!
