Lake of the Clouds
I made a spontaneous trip to the Porcupine Mountains once I heard Lake of the Clouds was in full peak color, and it did not disappoint! The hike to the top is always an easy one and totally worth it—the view was absolutely magical. The vibrant fall colors stretched for miles, and the autumn sunset glow added an extra layer of beauty to the scene. It was the perfect evening to soak in all that fall magic. Afterward, I spent the night in Silver City, feeling lucky to have caught such a breathtaking moment at one of my favorite spots in the Upper Peninsula.
For the hike, I kept it casual with a monochromatic green outfit and some favorite faded black jeans. I wore an older Madewell button-up cardigan (very similar option at Old Navy on sale!), paired with a quilted liner coat that was perfect for layering. My new favorite Blundstone boots held up well on the easy, paved trail and added that extra touch of ruggedness to the look. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it was cozy and comfortable—just right for a quick trip to Lake of the Clouds.
