All the tulips

It’s that time of year again… visiting the tulip fields! This day was so magical, and so needed. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to go with everything going on, but when garden centers re-opened a couple of weeks ago in Michigan, I was so excited to make the trip out to Holland! There was no Tulip Time this year, which was sad. But just being outside, in the sunshine, with this gorgeous scene around me… just made my soul so happy. It’s strange to explain but just filling my life with these scenes gives me so much joy. Especially in such a dark time. These are the moments that make up my life, you know? I don’t know, being cheesy over here. But I loved this afternoon, I’m so glad I went, it healed my heart a little bit, and I’m so grateful for this day.

May stripes

Hi there! Phew, I’ve been slacking a little bit at blogging this month! But that’s okay. I’ll try and get caught up. This is my favorite spring month to blog! It’s just so pretty outside right now. But with the random thunderstorms here and there, cold fronts, and wind, I haven’t been getting dressed and outside too much lately. Thankfully we have some awesome weather on the forecast… sunshine and 70s (and more thunderstorms!) so I’m pretty excited about that. But yeah, I wanted to wear this cute little striped top that I picked up at Target forever ago (now out of stock 😔) but I love the colors — very spring-y! Blush pink and olive green is one of my favorite color combinations too, especially in this season. How are you guys doing? Hanging in there?

In Bloom

Hello, May! Well, everything is in bloom. It’s magical outside. The weather finally feels like spring, the trees are all flowering, tulips are out, the pinks and whites and yellows you see out are so pretty. I love this time of year. May is one of my favorite months, definitely my favorite spring month. And I’m just happy to have something “new” even if life doesn’t really feel like it’s changing or moving toward anything “normal” yet, we’re in a new month. That’s good enough in itself, haha! But I’ve been taking mental notes on my runs of where to shoot photos, and I knew I wanted to come here to snap a few! I run this route all the time (see the bridge from my last post!) and it’s such a pretty spot with trees lining the street. Hoping to get out and see more flowers this week… it goes by too quickly!

Golden hour on Sixth Street Bridge

Well April is coming to a close! What a weird month, right? I have a feeling the whole summer is just going to be “weird”. But honestly, I’m just enjoying the small things currently about this season of life. I wanted to take photos here, because this bridge is just sort of symbolic to me right now. I run across it all the time on my usual running route, and I don’t know. It just gives me peace for some reason. It’s hard to explain. I always get a “high” when I hit this part of my run. But I’m just sort of living for the small things right now… like running along the river, cooking meals at home, all the wine, windows open when it’s raining, candles burning, seeing the trees in bloom. It’s all so fleeting, right? I might as well enjoy pieces of this life while it’s here.

Keeping it simple

Onto the last week of April! This month weirdly flew by, haha. I’m okay with it. Michigan was extended to May 15 though, and I see it being extended even further. All of my favorite May things are cancelled… no Cinco, no Tulip Time, a vacation to Florida was cancelled, and now I’m thinking Nashville at the end of the month is cancelled too. I just feel all the feels right now, lol. Sometimes I just randomly burst into tears, other days I’m laughing and crushing it. I don’t know. This weekend was fine, and not fine, and then fine. I honestly think I’m starting to go a little crazy. Like I think very weird thoughts, time passes by and I’m not sure where it went, it’s like I’m in a weird black hole, haha. I don’t know. Just hanging tight at this point and trying to stay sane. 🤣

Another weekend in lockdown

Well, another weekend in the books! This one really sucked, and then it was okay, and then it kind of sucked again. Hahaha, I think maybe that’s just the new normal in this process. My emotions are just all over the place. But I’m surviving! But yeah, this weekend… I started (and finished) Tiger King. WTF. Went for a run along the Grand River. Got takeout from Donkey, which was so good. You really appreciate a meal out once you don’t really dine out anymore, that’s for sure! Drank a marg + lots of wine. Watched 3 different movies. Got UberEats breakfast… was weirdly craving a chocolate chip pancake, lol. Took Winny for a walk. Got groceries, but ended up shattering two bottles of wine that fell through a plastic bag and ruined (these) sneakers… don’t worry, I already ordered a new pair. 🤣 But yeah, that was my weekend. Exciting stuff over here, y’all!
