Lilac that blooms

I pretty much wear this outfit on a constant rotation, haha. These jeans are my absolute favorite I’ve gotten from Madewell in a while, and I just love these sneaks too. So yeah! Spring really flew by quickly. Even with everything going on in the world and how challenging it was, I enjoyed the season overall. I had a lot of self-growth and got into a really good routine. Lots of learning + slowing down, that’s for sure.

Parking lot mood

Alright — I’m going to catch up a little bit here on the blog. The last couple of weeks have been such an important time, and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t putting out unhelpful noise, but instead that I was listening and learning. I also wanted to make sure that what I put online wasn’t performative, or doing what others were without thinking about how it affected this movement. I don’t know. I know I can use my audience/influence for good, but I’m also not an expert activist. And there’s a lot of my life that doesn’t show up here on the blog or on Instagram, including my personal journey with diversity, equity and inclusion. But I absolutely love blogging about my outfits, travels and adventures, and the positives of my everyday life and I plan to continue that because it makes me happy! And I’ll try to be more helpful with sharing important things that could help the BLM movement and continue to think about my actions and what I put out there for you guys!

Apple blossoms in bloom

Swoon. The apple orchards in spring… are maybe dare I say… better than the apple orchards in autumn? Okay, nah, I take that back, BUT I’d say definitely equal in terms of magic. I heard that the apple blossoms popped out, and since they literally go away so quickly, especially when it gets hot outside, I drove over right away to snap some photos! This was such a cool night too… right at the beginning of golden hour, but it was super cloudy, so I got some really cool lighting for these photos. Plus, the drive home was so pretty, the sunset was beautiful, and then it just got super doomy and gloomy right before the sun went down, and it was just a damn vibe! I love vibes! 😂🙌🏻

High Voltage

Happy Friday before a long holiday weekend! Even though life is weird and strange, I’m still excited (as I’ll always be) for a long holiday weekend. And Memorial Day to me always means the ‘unofficial start of summer’ and I’m just here for it. I’m excited; I’m ready. This entire week flew… as did this entire month to be honest! But yeah, not much is new! Life is good! Normal, pretty stable right now, not a lot of emotional highs and lows like I was experiencing at the beginning of this, so that’s great. I’m actually just really enjoying this season of life right now. This weather, my routine, working on myself, starting to be able to be around friends (even if social distancing), slowing down, making plans, I don’t know. It’s just good right now. Things are good. 🤷‍♀️

Running along the Grand River

I thought it’d be fun to do an entire post on my running routine and my route, since it feels like such a big part of my life right now… as strange as that sounds! I’ve always liked running, but I never actively ran outside much and was always a studio fitness gal. I’ve participated in a few 5Ks here and there, and a 10K once, but I never had a routine and route I’ve loved quite like this. It’s so fun to be able to explore downtown Grand Rapids a bit more and see some familiar sights so often. I get to cross over the Sixth Street Bridge, all along the Grand River, seeing the fish ladder, watching the rapids, the highways overhead, crossing through downtown and seeing Rosa Parks Circle, the Love Sculpture, and heading over to the Blue Bridge to cross over, loop around the carousel of the public museum, through a tunnel lined with murals, and back up through Ah-Nab-Awen park seeing Lorrie’s Button. It’s such a fun route — and has played such a big part in my happiness and peace lately!
